After the limousine fire tragedy in San Francisco, the public is very concerned about limo safety. Limousines that carry 10 or more passengers are required to be inspected every 13 months, basically once a year. But if they are under 10 passengers they do not need to be inspected nor do they have to carry a fire extinguisher. Accidents like this are very rare and can be avoided with the proper safety measures. Since the car is drastically changed during the stretching process, which is the same for small stretches as well as large, they should have the same inspection requirement. Mandatory inspections plus exit windows and/or fire extinguishers are great precautionary tools. We are bound to see stricter laws and conditions in the future to enhance the safety of passengers.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those who were lost in the fire on San Mateo Bridgeon 5-4-13.
